The 2022 season of Formula DRIFT PRO ended last weekend at Irwindale Speedway, more affectionately known as The HOUSE of DRIFT. In the Final 16 it was Matt Field's Drift Cave/ Falken Tire C6 Corvette with a V-7 YSi-B who was the points leader going into the finals and second in points, Fredric Aasbo, who would seem to be in the best positions to take home the Championship in 2022. While sunny skies are the norm for Mid Oct in So Cal, the untimely rain downpours made the track a bit slippery for those going out on the track early in the round.

Vortech Superchargers driver, Matt Field had been on pace to hold onto the Championship making it to the Top 16. Unfortunately, with damp track conditions Field had a bad spin out in that round that took out his passenger side front suspension and could not quite get it fixed in the 5-minute repair period time permitted. In the end, most of the final round match ups and controversial calls seemed to go in favor of Aasbo and Matt Field ended up a very respectable 2nd place in the points with Aasbo taking 1st for the 2022 Formula DRIFT PRO Championship once again.

Vortech Superchargers Driver, Aurimas “Odi” Bakchis in his Feal Suspension/Falken Tire Nissan S-14 with V-7 YSi-B made it to the Top 8 at Irwindale and after battling with Aasbo ended up in 9th place in the 2022 Championship points, but we know his perseverance will bring him back stronger than ever in 2023!

Another Vortech Superchargers FD PRO Driver, Trenton Beechum in his Ford /Nexen Tire Mustang, got knocked out early in Round 8 in Irwindale, but we know he’s going to be ready to go at it harder than ever again in 2023.

Vortech Superchargers wants to thank all of our FD Drivers who gave it their all this season and wish them the best of luck in 2023!
