As the NHRA DeWalt Carolina Nationals was in full swing at zMAX Dragway in Concord, NC, the Top Dragster final round included two of the biggest names in the class, Vortech Racer Danny Nelson and JB Strassweg. Not wanting to disappoint the crowd they put on a great race in true TD fashion. Nelson with a .023 RT to JB’s .031 gave him the starting line advantage, Nelson then hauled to victory with a 6.149 @ 224.73 MPH on his 6.10 dial in to Strassweg’s 6.274 @ 210.67on his 6.22 dial in.

Nelson, a former Top Dragster World Champion, began eliminations as the #2 qualifier with a 6.121 lap at 217 mph. To reach the final, Nelson drove past Brian Younce with a red light in the semifinals while Strassweg defeated a late-leaving Alexis Whitaker on the flip side of the ladder.

Vortech wanted to congratulate Danny Nelson on his 7th National Event Wally and we all look forward to seeing what he can do to stay on top as NHRA hits the home stretch in Oct & Nov. 2021.
