As Round 7 of Formula DRIFT PRO headed to the Streets of Long Beach, with a track staged courtesy of the LB Grand Prix races, the event win would go to Aurimas “Odi” Bakchis (Lithuania) driving the Falken Tire / Feal Suspension Nissan S15 running a V-7 YSi-B Vortech Supercharger.

Winning the opening round of 2021 at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta, Odi has been in the title chase all season and with consistent runs at many of the rounds maneuvered him to fifth in the Championship coming into Long Beach. Taking the top spot at the Streets of Long Beach would get him to fourth place keeping the Championship in sight moving into the last round at Irwindale, CA in October.

The weekend didn’t start off as planned when Odi qualified 12th leaving him no choice but to put the hammer down in a series of challenging match ups.

Matt Field in his Falken Tire/ Drift Cave Chevrolet Corvette, who was the points leader prior to FD LB, is another Vortech Supercharger driver running the YSi-B had his run to stay at the top of the points Championship come to an end early on at the top 16. Unfortunately, the front suspension broke on the Corvette on the third run, causing him to spin into the tire wall and resulting in a Vaughn Gittin Jr. win that round. Finishing 11th, Field dropped to third in the FD PRO Championship; 20 points behind Aasbo and a single point behind DeNofa. The Irwindale Finals will be a must-see event as the Drivers in the top points standings battle it out to the very end!

On his way to take the win at the Streets of Long Beach in CA, Odi Bakchis (Lithuania) ran against runner up Fredric Aasbo (Norway) in the Rockstar Energy Drink / Nitto Tire GR Supra who now the leader in the Championship points chase.

While Bakchis took the win at the Streets of Long Beach to gain a spot from 5th, Vortech Drivers Matt Field and “Odi” Bakchis are currently 3rd & 4th respectively near the top of the Formula DRIFT PRO Championship heading into the Invitational back at long Beach and then final points round at Irwindale CA Oct. 22-23, 2021.
