Vortech and the entire automotive industry mourns this past week with the loss of Alex Borla, the co-founder and CEO of Borla Performance Industries. With a facility just down the street from Vortech Engineering in Oxnard, CA we feel like we have lost not only a long time friend, but also a great local business neighbor and a true icon that changed the automotive exhaust industry forever. Over 15 years ago Borla expanded and moved all manufacturing to a facility in Johnson City, TN that allowed the company to continue to grow even faster but kept an administrative/ R&D office in CA.

Back in 1978, Alex Borla co-founded Borla Performance and Borla Exhaust with his wife, Alyse Borla. The company started manufacturing exhaust components for Rolls-Royce and Concours Ferrari's, but evolved into a premier brand exhaust and induction company with applications for most performance cars and trucks.

Alex was a lifelong auto enthusiast participating in many racing & auto industry events, including the Bonneville Salt Flats Speed Week, SEMA, PRI and also attended local car shows with his C1 LS Swapped Corvette and many other classic collector cars. He will always be remembered as a legendary innovator and very important part of this industry we all love so much. Our thoughts and sympathy's go out to his wife Alyse, and the entire Borla family- RIP Alex Borla.
